How to use a career cheat

  1. Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C (Cmd + Shift + C on Mac, or all four shoulder buttons on console).
  2. Enter testingcheats true.
  3. Click on the Sim you want to change, so they're the selected Sim.
  4. Paste the career cheat and press Enter.

Career names for cheats

The console uses its own name for each career, and it isn't always the name you see in the game. Swap one of these into any career cheat.

Promote in a career careers.promote Astronaut Promotes the selected Sim one level in their career. Swap Astronaut for their career, such as Business, Culinary or Writer. Needs testing cheats
Leave a career careers.remove_career Astronaut Removes the selected Sim from that career. Needs testing cheats
Join a career careers.add_career Astronaut Puts the selected Sim straight into that career. Swap Astronaut for the career you want. Needs testing cheats
Demote in a career careers.demote Astronaut Moves the selected Sim down one level in their career. Needs testing cheats

Tips and problems

  • Nothing happened? Check testing cheats are on and the right Sim is selected.
  • Promoting to the top? Some careers branch partway up. The game asks your Sim to pick a branch when they reach that level.
  • Skills matter too. A promotion cheat skips the work, but some careers still expect certain skills. Pair it with the skill cheat generator.
